Privacy Policy

KalmDown is a self-help coaching app, operated by an independent developer based in Washington, USA (“KalmDown”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. The short version: your data is yours, we don’t sell it, and you can delete all of it.

Information we collect

Everything here is data you create by using KalmDown. We don’t track you across the web, buy data about you, or gather anything you didn’t put in yourself. Specifically, we collect:

• Account. Your email address and a securely hashed password.
• Your coaching content. Your chats with zeno, the durable memory it builds to remember you (profile, facts, session summaries), and any voice reflections you record.
• Your lock data. The passcodes and commitment locks you create.
• Basic activity events.An action plus a timestamp (for example, “started a breath session”) — never the content of what you did.

Why we collect it

Solely to provide the coaching service and let zeno remember you across sessions. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you for anything other than coaching you. There is no ad model.

AI processing

To generate zeno’s responses, your messages are sent to Anthropic, PBC, which operates the Claude AI model, acting as our data processor. Anthropic processes this data to return a response and under its terms does not train its models on it. We do not send Anthropic your password or your passcodes.

How we protect it

Your sensitive data — chats, memory, voice reflections, and passcodes — is encrypted at rest using envelope encryption (AES-256-GCM), so a stolen database or backup is unreadable. Note that this is protection at rest, not end-to-end encryption: our server can read your data in order to provide the service.

Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, it is removed (see below). We may keep minimal, non-content records where required by law.

Your rights & deletion

You can access, export, correct, or delete your data, all from the account menu in the app. “Download my data” gives you a complete copy of everything you’ve created; deleting your account permanently erases your chats, memory, voice reflections, and passcodes across our systems and cannot be undone.
